These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and BowStrike ("BowStrike," "we," "us," or "our"), the operator of the BowStrike platform and the website at bowstrike.com and its subdomains (the "Service"). By creating an account, accessing, or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
BowStrike is a software platform for organizing and participating in archery activities. It includes tools for competition timing, registration, live scoring and results, club and membership management, class and lesson scheduling, an events calendar, and online payment collection. Features are provided "as they exist" and may change, be added, or be removed over time.
You must be able to form a binding contract to create an account. Archery is a youth-friendly sport, and the Service supports youth programs such as JOAD. If you are under the age of 18, you may use the Service only with the involvement and consent of a parent, legal guardian, or a supervising organization (such as a club or coach), who agrees to these Terms on your behalf and is responsible for your use.
We do not knowingly allow children under 13 to create their own accounts without verifiable parental consent. A parent, guardian, or supervising organization who registers or manages a minor's participation represents that they have authority to do so and to provide the minor's information. See our Privacy Policy for how we handle information relating to minors.
Organizer plans. Running competitions, collecting fees, and certain organizer features require a paid plan or an active promotional credit. Plan prices, limits, and terms are shown at the point of purchase. Paid one-time and per-competition purchases are charged when you buy them; monthly plans renew automatically each month until cancelled.
Founding-organizer promotion. Where offered, eligible organizers may run free for an introductory period (currently the first six months). This promotion collects a payment method and creates a subscription with a free trial. Unless you cancel before the trial ends, the plan converts to a paid subscription and your payment method is charged at the then-current price. You may cancel at any time before the trial ends to avoid any charge.
Payment processing and the platform fee. Payments on the Service — such as competition entry fees, class fees, and club dues — are processed by Stripe. Funds for these payments are paid directly to the connected account of the organizer or club collecting them. BowStrike does not hold, escrow, or take custody of these funds. BowStrike charges a platform fee (currently 5% of the transaction) which is deducted at the time of payment; the organizer may choose whether that fee is absorbed by the organization or passed through, subject to applicable law. Stripe's own processing fees also apply. Your use of payment features is additionally subject to the Stripe Connected Account Agreement and Stripe's terms.
Refunds. Because organizers and clubs receive participant payments directly, any refund of an entry fee, class fee, or dues is a matter between the participant and that organizer or club. BowStrike is not a party to those transactions and does not issue refunds on an organizer's behalf. Refunds of BowStrike plan charges are handled per the plan terms shown at purchase and are otherwise non-refundable except where required by law.
Taxes. You are responsible for determining and paying any taxes applicable to fees you collect from participants or members.
If you use the Service to run an event, class, club, or membership program (an "Organizer"), you are solely responsible for that activity — including its rules, safety, eligibility decisions, scoring accuracy, disputes, communications, collection and refund of fees, and compliance with the rules of any governing body and with applicable law. BowStrike provides tools and does not run the Organizer's event or independently verify every result. Scores, standings, and verification indicators shown in the Service are provided for convenience and are not official rulings. Optional BowStrike sanctioning means only that an event has met the published eligibility controls for BowStrike Ranked. It is not NFAA or other governing-body sanctioning, event insurance, a range inspection, a safety guarantee, or an endorsement of the Organizer. An event may use BowStrike without requesting this designation. BowStrike Ranked is an independent, honor-system community standings program based on organizer-submitted, dual-signed scorecards; it is not a governing-body ranking unless a particular future program is expressly identified as such.
A BowStrike-sanctioned ranking event must designate either a current NFAA judge whose credential BowStrike has reviewed, or the responsible organizer who passed the current BowStrike Event Official Assessment with at least 43 of 50 answers correct. A BowStrike assessment pass is personal, nontransferable, and limited to competitions owned by that account. It is not an NFAA certification, does not authorize the person to officiate another Organizer's event, and creates no qualification outside BowStrike. A verified NFAA judge must separately accept an assignment for another Organizer's event. BowStrike may revoke either designation when a credential expires, the applicable rules or assessment change, or submitted information is false.
By enrolling an event in BowStrike Ranked, the Organizer certifies that the competition, participant identities, categories, scorecards, signatures, and results are genuine and accurate to the best of the Organizer's knowledge. Archer participation in the public season rankings is optional; opting in authorizes publication of the ranking fields described at registration, and the archer may later revoke that choice without leaving the event. A minor may be opted in only through the recorded attestation of a parent or legal guardian. BowStrike may exclude questionable events or results and may suspend or terminate accounts for deliberate falsification, manufactured participation, collusion, or coordinated ranking abuse.
"Your Content" means anything you submit to the Service — organization profiles and blurbs, event listings, sponsor logos, class descriptions, forum posts, marketplace listings, scores, and similar material. You retain ownership of Your Content. You grant BowStrike a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute Your Content solely to operate and provide the Service (for example, showing a leaderboard, a public event page, or a sponsor logo on a scorecard).
You represent and warrant that you own or have the necessary rights to Your Content and that it does not infringe or violate the rights of any third party. This is especially important for logos, brand names, and images (including sponsor logos): by uploading them you confirm you are authorized to use and display them on the Service. You are responsible for Your Content, and you agree to remove anything you no longer have the right to use.
You agree not to:
To limit abuse, some community features (such as forum posting) may require a waiting period after you request access, and submitted listings may be reviewed by automated and human moderation. We may remove content or restrict features at our discretion to enforce these Terms.
The Service includes a directory of archery events. Some listings are created by users; others are compiled from, or link to, third-party websites such as associations and event organizers. These listings and links are provided for convenience. BowStrike does not control, endorse, or take responsibility for third-party events, websites, or their content, availability, or accuracy. Following a link to a third-party site is at your own risk and subject to that site's terms.
The Service relies on third-party providers, including Stripe (payments), and providers for email delivery, hosting, and automated content review. Your use of payment features is subject to Stripe's agreements. We are not responsible for third-party services' acts or omissions, but we select providers we consider reputable.
The Service, including its software, design, text, graphics, and the BowStrike name and logo, is owned by BowStrike or its licensors and is protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, revocable, non-transferable license to use the Service as intended. All other rights are reserved. Trademarks, product names, and logos of other companies referenced in the Service belong to their respective owners and do not imply any affiliation or endorsement.
BowStrike's original content — including our event summaries and descriptions, tool outputs, editorial and instructional text, and the selection, arrangement, coordination, and compilation of listings and data (collectively, the "BowStrike Database") — is the copyrighted work of BowStrike, protected as an original work of authorship and as a compilation. Except as expressly permitted in writing, you may not copy, reproduce, scrape, harvest, republish, resell, or otherwise exploit the BowStrike Database or any substantial part of it, and you may not use automated means to access, index, or extract it. We do not claim exclusive ownership of individual public facts (such as an event's date or location); our rights extend to our original expression and to the compilation as a whole.
Copyright complaints (DMCA). We respect intellectual-property rights and expect our users to do the same. If you believe material on the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice through our contact form that includes: (a) your contact information; (b) identification of the copyrighted work; (c) identification of the allegedly infringing material and where it appears on the Service; (d) a statement that you have a good-faith belief the use is not authorized by the owner, its agent, or the law; (e) a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information is accurate and that you are the owner or authorized to act on the owner's behalf; and (f) your physical or electronic signature. You may also send the notice by mail to BowStrike, PO Box 587, Bethel, CT 06801. We will remove or disable material we determine to be infringing and may terminate the accounts of repeat infringers.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, that timing, scoring, or results will be accurate or reliable for any official purpose, or that any event listing is accurate or current. You use the Service and rely on its output at your own risk.
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, BOWSTRIKE AND ITS OWNERS, EMPLOYEES, AND SUPPLIERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, GOODWILL, OR FUNDS, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE SERVICE WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNTS YOU PAID TO BOWSTRIKE FOR THE SERVICE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, OR (B) US $100. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless BowStrike from any claims, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from Your Content, your events or activities run through the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.
You may stop using the Service and close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms, create risk or legal exposure, or if we discontinue the Service. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and indemnification) will survive.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the state and federal courts located in Connecticut will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute not subject to other agreed dispute-resolution terms, and you consent to their jurisdiction and venue.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, for material changes, provide reasonable notice. Your continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
